  • Today I received a letter from them saying that my card has been terminated--with absolutely no explanation as to WHY my card has been terminated. I take my credit rating very seriously. There is no tale of the company going out of business, and the implication is that it is my fault. I'm just wondering if anyone else has received a similar letter.

  • Most credit card companies are reviewing accounts resulting in lower limits, higher interest rates, and in some cases, closing accounts. It's a sign of the economic times.

  • My discover card that I havent used in 5 months just sent me a letter increasing my credit limit.

I think they are just going through their records and seeing what customers they really want. Ones that carry balances over a long period of time, and no longer wanted.

You might be carrying balances on other cards.

  • Major credit card companies have been terminating accounts that have been inactive or have very few transactions made by the customer. They are losing money on those accounts.

  • The same thing happened to me. just 2 days ago I got the same letter. I regularly use this card and have never been late on a payment in 8 years. I called them and of course I got someone that could barely speak English. All he said is that all Emerge customers were terminated and sorry for the inconvenience. No explanation. I don't see how this is fair for them to do this, especially at this time of year.

  • I would contact them directly to find out what the letter is all about.
